Veduta tratta dal celebre A Select Collection of Views And Ruins in Rome And Its Vicinity: Recently Executed From Drawings Made Upon the Spot.
Splendido e ricercato libro di vedute sulle rovine romane, stampato per la prima volta, in due parti, nel 1797-99 e impreziosito da 62 belle tavole all’acquatinta tratte da disegni dal vero realizzati nel 1791. Le tavole sono datate dal 1796 al 1798. Il nome dell’incisore, Merigot, è riportato solo sulla tavola n. 23, raffigurante il sepolcro di Cecilia Metella, mentre su tutte le altre, in basso, compare l'indirizzo di Merigot come editore, spesso in associazione con Edwards, e date comprese dal 1796 al 1798.
Acquatinta, finemente colorata a mano, in buono stato di conservazione.

Incisore d’origine francese, si trasferisce a Londra intorno al 1790. Realizza 20 incisioni all’acquatinta da acquarelli di John Warwick Smith per illustrare l’opera Views of the Lakes of Cumberland, with twenty aquatints by James Merigot (1791–5)”. Inoltre, incide diverse vedute per la raccolta “A select collection of views and ruins in Rome and its vicinity – recently executed from drawings made upon the spot” di cui figura anche in qualità di editore. È anche autore di un manuale aristico dal titolo “The amateur's portfolio, or, The new drawing magazine…”
French engraver. He produced 20 aquatints from John Warwick Smith's watercolors to illustrate “Views of the Lakes of Cumberland, with twenty aquatints by James Merigot (1791–5)”. He also did the engravings for “A select collection of views and ruins in Rome and its vicinity – recently executed from drawings made upon the spot” . He wrote an artists' manual “The amateur's portfolio, or, The new drawing magazine…”
