Jean Baptiste Isabey (1767-1885) miniature painter, portraitist, caricaturist and lithographer. Born in Nancy, in 1785 he went to Paris, where he worked in the studio of Jacques Louis David after an apprenticeship with Girardet and Claudot. Early in his career he received portrait commissions from Marie Antoinette and the dukes of Angoulême and Berry. Isabey executed a series of 228 portraits for the 'Recueil de portraits des députés de l'Assemblée Nationale' and exhibited miniatures and drawings at the Salon beginning in 1793. During Napoleon's reign he was appointed Dessinateur du Cabinet de l'Empereur, des Cérémonies et des Relations Extérieures; he was principal decorator of imperial theatres; and he did important design work for the Sèvres porcelain factory. Isabey was a significant influence on other artists.

Antonio Tenenti was a publisher active in Milan with the address Milan rue Ste Marguerite No.1120.

Luigi Rados (Parma 1773 - Milan 1844), painter and engraver, trained in Milan at the Brera Academy, becoming assistant to G. Longhi and Raffaello Morghen. He produced reproductions from Raphael, Leonardo and Crespi; as well as portraits, views and genre scenes.

A fine impression, printed on contemporary laid paper, with margins, perfect condition. Rare.

Luigi RADOS (Parma, 19 ottobre 1773 – Milano, 1840)

Rados was born in Parma and educated at the city's academy. He collaborated extensively with the French painter Jean-François Bosio, who worked under the name Giovanni Battista Bosio while in Milan under the French occupation. Rados' plates after Bosio include a portrait of the French viceroy Eugène de Beauharnais (1807) and illustrations for an updated Milanese equivalent of Carracci's Cries of Bologna, published under the title of I costumi di Milano e suoi circondari. Rados also engraved many of the portraits drawn by Bosio for the second volume of the Serie di vite e ritratti de'famosi personaggi degli ultimi tempi, a three-volume collection of illustrated biographies published in Milan between 1815 and 1818.
