Statue of Roma (Minerva) with helmet and staff in her hands, at her right the bearded river god Tiber with his overturned amphora, at left the she-wolf with the infants Romulus and Remus, behind the statues a view of Rome with the Pantheon at left and the Tiber island at top right; after an engraving by Cornelis Cort after Stradanus; illustration to Cornelis de Bie's "Het Gulden Cabinet" (Joannes Meyssens: Antwerp, 1662).
Engraving, lettered in lower margin with two columns, each with two lines of Latin: "Orbis Roma caput ... / super astra tulit.".
Copy in reverse after part of the engraving 'The Practice of the visual arts' by Cort after Stradanus. Added in the background the panorama of the city, where the Antonine Column, the Pantheon and Castel Sant'Angelo can be recognised.
A good impression, printed on contemporary laid paper, with margins, good condition.
