Finely engraved etching on contemporary paper, in excellent condition. Executed using the delineato technique, it was intended for plates that were to be colored.
Domenico Mucci was an important publisher and printer active in Rome around the mid-19th century. Mucci's printing house specialized in the distribution of views of classical monuments and reproductions of famous works of art in the capital (such as the large scenes from the Vatican frescoes), responding to the strong demand from European travelers on the Grand Tour.
