Map of the territory between the Biferno and Fortore rivers showing the town of Termoli, correspondent to the ancient diocese of Larino.

This work is taken from the “Memorie storiche, civili, ed ecclesiastiche della Città, e Diocesi di Larino, Metropoli degli Antichi Frentani" by Tria and was engraved by Carlo Grandi in 1743.

Copperplate, ivery good conditions. Very rare.

Giovanni Andrea TRIA (Laterza, 1676 – Roma, 1761)

Italian bishop, diplomat and historian. Tria was elected the Bishop of Cariati and Gerenza in 1720. He was transferred to the diocese of Larino, in the Molise, in 1727. He became the "Examiner of Bishops" and he was decorated with the insignia of the Cavalier of the Order of Saint Jacob for his meritorious service to the Court of Lisbon. In 1744, he published in Rome "The Memorable Stories, Civil and Ecclesiastical of the City and Diocese of Larino".
