Map of the city from the Nuovissima Guida di ROMA e Dintorni con cartina di Roma Monumentale LOESCHER.
The city's main monuments are highlighted.
In 1861, Hermann Loescher, a native of Leipzig, took over a bookstore in Turin. In 1865, he opened one in Florence, and after September 20, 1870, another in the new Italian capital, Rome. The publishing business, begun in 1867, was for several years secondary to the book trade. After Loescher's death (1892), the Turin business was continued by his widow; the Florence branch was sold to the German Bernhard Seeber, and the Roman bookstore was taken over by Max Bretschneider and Walter Regenberg. This operation gave rise to the publishing house "Ermanno Loescher & Co." Max Bretschneider's management preserved the editorial characteristics, style, and spirit left by Loescher.
Lithograph, printed in Turin by Pietro Salussolia, in excellent condition.
