Jean Bernard Mary-Lafon (1810-1884) was a French writer, historian, linguist, and playwright, part of whose work is devoted to Occitan and Occitan literature. For his work on Rome, he used engraved illustrations by the most talented French artists of the period.
Thunot Duvotenay (1796 - 1875) was a French geographer active in the mid 19th century. Thunot is known to have worked with several other important cartographers of his dayincluding Barbie du Bocage, Vuillemin, Charle, Levassseur and Dufour.

Thunot is known to have worked with several other important cartographers of his day including Barbie du Bocage, Vuillemin, Charle, Levassseur and Dufour. Duvotenay also published "Complement de L'Encyclopedie Moderne ou Dictionnaire Abrege des Sciences, des Lettres des Arts de l'Industrie, de l'Agriculture et du Commerce Atlas" (Paris, 1875-1879). and atlases of France, Switzerland & the United States. Charles Duvotenay (fl. 1830's) was a cartographer also active in Paris who published a fine set of maps of Switzerland and its cantons in "Atlas Géographique, Historique, Statistique et Itinéraire de la Suisse" (Paris 1837). We assume that Charles & Thunot were related, although we have been unable to verify this.
