- Presso Lodovico Furlanetto a S. Salvador Con Privilegio dell' Eccmo Senato'.
Rare wall map of Italy, printed on 6 sheets and published in Venice in 1795 by Lodovico Furlanetto.
In the upper right corner there is a cartouche with the title, while in the lower left corner there is a cartouche with explanations, scale, and publisher's address; in the lower margin, in a small cartouche, there is a map of Malta.
This is probably the first edition of the map, dated 1795. Borri describes a reprint dated 1798.
Lodovico Furlanetto was an important Venetian print merchant and publisher. Furlanetto's publishing career began in 1739, when he purchased Giuseppe Baroni's engraving workshop in San Giuliano, which he renamed after its new address at Ponte de' Baretteri. The purchase of Baroni's printing shop included the plates of Ludovico Ughi's monumental map. In 1779, Furlanetto wanted his production, which until then had not been protected, to be protected by privilege. He submitted a request to the Reformers of the Studio of Padua, pointing out the danger of imitators and counterfeiters, with obvious reference to Teodoro Viero and Giuliano Giampiccoli. The request was granted in 1780 with a twenty-year privilege.
Etching, printed on six sheets of contemporary laid paper bound together at the time, with contemporary outline colour, in very good condition. Copy folded several times.
