This monumental work by Abbot Pacichelli sets out to recount the political-military, religious, urban, economic and artistic history of 148 cities and their annexed territories, in the 12 provinces that made up what was once the Kingdom of Naples.

The origins, economic situation, historical events, topography and monuments, literary works, cults and relics of the saints venerated are described for each individual municipality.

An added value and an integral part of Pacichelli's volumes are the sharp engravings depicting all the centres of the Neapolitan kingdom by Michele Luigi Muzio and the maps by Francesco Cassiano De Silva.

The work was delivered to the publishers in 1692, but only went into print after Pacichelli's death (1695).

Copperplate, slight humidity marks, overall in excellent condition. Rare.
