Description
Carta geografica dello Stato della Chiesa con la Toscana tratta dall’edizione italiana dello scritto dell’abate Pierre le Lorrain de Vallemont (1649-1721) pubblicato a Venezia, con il titolo Gli elementi della storia d'Italia per servir di continuazione agli Elementi della storia del signor abate di Vallemont, arricchiti di carte geografiche, da Giambattista Albrizzi, nel 1748.
“Il cartiglio è semplice, con risvolti a cornice che nella parte alta lasciano il posto alla figura del Pontefice da due putti alati sorreggenti la tiara. Negli angoli in alto, a sinistra è lo stemma papale, a destra quello dei Medici; sottostante sono cinque scudi per ogni lato, ma senza figurazione. Carta di modeste dimensioni, non manca tuttavia di segnalare numerosi centri abitati, inclusi quelli di non grandi dimensioni ma importanti nei riguardi della viabilità. Evidente l’errore nell’indicare l’asta Nera-Velino con l’idronimo F, Teverone, ossia l’Aniene” (cfr. "Le antiche terre del Ducato di Spoleto", p. 174)
Acquaforte, finemente colorata a mano, in ottimo stato di conservazione. Non comune.

Giambattista Albrizzi is part of a family of printers and publishers of Venice from Bergamo. Start of printing was in the last decades of the seventeenth century, Girolamo Albrizzi was succeeded by his son Giambattista, particularly active in the twenty years 1730-50. Among the most ancestors of modern journalism, at the end of 1740 obtained by the Reformers of the University of Padua, the privilege of printing "a newspaper containing news and military policies" entitled The New Postiglione. Gave great impetus to the art printing Venetian, linking its name to a series of magnificent editions, which earned him the collaboration of the best designers and engravers of the time: Piazzetta, Zanetti, Pitteri and Bartolozzi.
