In the lower margin, the caption CATHEDRAM S. PETRI in interiori templi fronte ingredientibus ab ipso limine, e regione aspectabilem,ALEXANDER VII. PONT. MAX. decentius collocavit, exornavitq./Sancti EcclesiaeDoctores Athanasius, Io. Chrysostomus, Ambrosius, Augustinus, colossea statua unica aeris fusura expressi, threcam sustinent, qua includitur. Angeli, nubes,radij de celo ambiunt. Spiritus Sanctus columbae specie/supereminens opuscoronat. Basis ex laspide, vario pretiosoq. distincta lapide. Caetera ex AEreauro superinducto. A.S. MDCLXVI”, with an account of the St. Peter’s Baldachin and its construction in 1666 and a scale of measurement.

Jacques BLONDEAU (1655 - 1698)

Was a Flemish Baroque engraver who after training in Antwerp spent most of his career in Italy. He was a pupil of the Antwerp engraver Frederik Bouttats the Younger. He spent some time in Paris. In 1675 he traveled to Rome where he continued to live and work for the rest of his life.
