Description
Rare Monaldini's edition of Benedetti map of Rome (1773). Ignazio Benedetti's map is a very faithful copy of the little map of Nolii / Piranesi, published in 1748. The legend consists of 173 numbers against 170 of the original. At the top left, he dedicates to Cardinal Boschi.
The Monaldini issue of the map show one more key number (174 Sagerstia di S. Pietro), the new title - Nuova Pianta Topografica della Città di Roma Cavata da quella del Nolli e Aumentata - and is without the dedication to P. Boschi.
Etching, printed on contemporary paper and laid down on canvas, folded, in very good condition.
