From the series: Landscape with Ruins, Architecture and Figures, consisting of seven plates, included the titlepage dedication to Marchese Ottavio Gonzaga.

Frans Geffels (Antwerp, 1635 - Mantua, 1694) was a painter, engraver and architect. Trained in his native city in the workshop of the publisher Mideller, he arrived in Mantua around 1659, probably called by his fellow countryman Daniel van den Dyck, who died in 1663, Geffels replaced as prefect of the Gonzaga ducal factories, wanted in this role by Charles II of Gonzaga-Nevers. He then also served the last duke Ferdinand Charles.

A fine impression on contemporary laid paper, with margins on three side, trimmed to the platemark at the left, some foxing, otherwise good condition.
