A very good impression, printed with tone on contemporary laid paper, trimmed at margins, loss of the text in the margin underneath, very good condition.

This is from a series of sixteen. They were cut by an anonymous cutter whose monogram like an anchor on its side occurs on some of the prints. They are after designs by Girolamo Grandi whose name appears on 'the Assumption and coronation of the Virgin'

Some plates of the series bear the date 1538.

Girolamo Grandi (also known as Girolamo de Grandi), from Ferrara, worked as engraver on woodcuts between 1530 and 1548. He also made drawings for engravings by G. Ruina.
