Description

A superior rival to the pocket Ortelius atlas appeared about 1598, under the imprint of Barent Langenes and Cornelis Claesz.

Claesz also published the "Tabularum Geographicarum Contractarum", edition with texy by Petrus Bertius, in 1600.

Copperplate, in very good conditions. Engraved by Pieter Kaerius. Rare.

Engraver, publisher and bookseller of globes in-law of Jodocus Hondius was a student, with whom he worked closely. Among the other was half-brother Petrus Bertius and uncle of Abraham Goos. End engraver of maps worked with all active publishers in Amsterdam in the first half of the sixteenth century.
